Basketball Recap: Community Charter School of Cambridge Falls to Excel Academy Charter in First Game of Season

Community Charter School of Cambridge unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 31-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excel Academy Charter Wolves. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Excel Academy Charter found their leader in sophomore Mariana Saccardo, who posted 19 points. Kailani Goncalves was another key player, putting up six points.

The victory got Excel Academy Charter back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Community Charter School of Cambridge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Pioneer Charter School of Science II at 4:15 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Excel Academy Charter will take on Pioneer Charter School of Science in a holiday battle at at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
