Baseball Recap: Westview Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Westview ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Bennington Badgers 5-4. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brooks Mullen was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Piatt, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Westview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Bennington, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Westview will be playing in front of their home fans against Millard North at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Wolverines' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bennington, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 8-2 win against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann on the 24th.
