Basketball Recap: Jonesboro Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Jonesboro couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were beaten by the Brookeland Wildcats 111-34 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered since December 14, 2024.

Brookeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Smith led the charge by going 13-for-27 en route to 30 points and four steals. The game was Smith's seventh in a row with at least 17 points. Cade Morgan was another key player, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards.

Jonesboro's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Brookeland, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-7.

Jonesboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brookeland, they have already played their next contest, a 66-52 win against McMullen County on the 25th.
