Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Knights vs. Riverside Prep Silver Knights
The Academy for Academic Excellence Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Riverside Prep. Academy for Academic Excellence has not had much luck with Riverside Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Leading Riverside Prep to victory were Marrion Brown and Raoul Churchill. Brown scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Churchill scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The match was Churchill's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jaylen Alexander was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Academy for Academic Excellence bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Riverside Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Academy for Academic Excellence will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Riverside Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
