Michigan City is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and South Bend Riley a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Michigan City Wolves will be playing at home against the South Bend Riley Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. South Bend Riley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Michigan City, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Michigan City turned things around against Tri-Township on Thursday. They blew past the Tigers 15-4. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Wolves this season.

Justice Randall made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Michigan City got a massive performance out of Zaire McKinney, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. McKinney is becoming a predictor of the Wolves' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 0-11 when he doesn't). AJ Galindo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Michigan City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for South Bend Riley's offense. They lost 20-0 to New Prairie on Wednesday.
Michigan City's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for South Bend Riley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Michigan City's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Wolves have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Bend Riley, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Michigan City continue to outrun the ball?
Michigan City was able to grind out a solid victory over South Bend Riley in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, winning 6-2. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
