Basketball Game Preview: Moss Point Tigers vs. Ocean Springs Greyhounds + Official Tickets

The Moss Point Tigers will challenge the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moss Point, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Ocean Springs' (thus far) undefeated season.

Moss Point is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Harrison Central on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Tigers were outmatched by the Red Rebels and fell 59-24. The Tigers were down 45-20 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ocean Springs). They were the clear victors by a 55-31 margin over Pascagoula on Thursday. While the Greyhounds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Moss Point better keep an eye on Starr Jackson. She was instrumental in Ocean Springs' win, shooting 54% from the field to rack up 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Jackson has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Newsome, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine steals.

Ocean Springs' win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Moss Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Moss Point strolled past Ocean Springs in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 35-21. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
