Baseball Recap: Manchester's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Manchester had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Fayetteville-Perry Rockets with a sharp 14-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-5 back in April.

Traevyn Hilderbrand was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Carson Inman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Manchester's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fayetteville-Perry, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.

Coming up, Manchester will take on Huntington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Greyhounds 3.4, the Huntsmen 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
