Preview: West Orange Mountaineers vs. University Phoenix
West Orange is 2-8 against University since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The West Orange Mountaineers will look to defend their home court against the University Phoenix at 4:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Jersey (West Orange is ranked 14th, while University is ranked tenth).
West Orange has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell to Newark Academy 57-53.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zoe Francis-Bunkley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Adrienne TaylorKamara was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, University can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They blew past Columbia 75-44 on the road. Winning may never get old, but University sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
West Orange has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-8 record this season. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2.
