Baseball Recap: Great Hearts Northern Oaks' Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Great Hearts Northern Oaks can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Poteet Aggies. This was a revenge game for the Griffins: when they faced off against the Aggies back in March, they had to take a 10-9 defeat.

Nicholas Franzese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Great Hearts Northern Oaks is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Joe Hicks was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Great Hearts Northern Oaks: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise.

The victory got Great Hearts Northern Oaks back to even at 9-9. As for Poteet, they dropped their record down to 8-16-1 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Great Hearts Northern Oaks will host Jourdanton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians/Squaws will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Griffins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Poteet, they will take on Randolph at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
