On Wednesday, Cane Bay came up short against Marion and fell 62-50. While losing is never fun, Cane Bay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Marion is ranked 32nd).
Despite the loss, Cane Bay saw an underclassman step up: Jarvis Roper scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Smalls, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
It was another big night for Jamorius Wilson, who scored 17 points for Marion. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameir Legette, who scored 11 points.
Cane Bay now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Marion, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cane Bay will square off against Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Andrews focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Wednesday. Marion and Marlboro County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Marlboro County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
