Preview: Woodsboro Eagles vs. Bruni Badgers

After two games on the road, Woodsboro is heading back home. They will take on The Bruni Badgers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 45-14, which was the final score in Woodsboro's tilt against Agua Dulce on Friday. Woodsboro was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-6.

Woodsboro's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Amarian Zambezi, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and Brenner Kurtz who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Bruni had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Pettus 36-2 at home. The result was nothing new for Bruni, who have now won three matchups by 30 points or more so far this season.

Albert Esquivel was on fire: he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 134 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Santana Gonzalez, who gained 115 total yards and two touchdowns.

Woodsboro's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bruni, their victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-4.

Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Woodsboro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 235.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bruni struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.

Woodsboro might still be hurting after the 20-0 loss they got from Bruni when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Woodsboro have more luck at home instead of on the road?
