Baseball Game Preview: Northeastern Clinton Cougars vs. Beekmantown Eagles

For the second straight game, Northeastern Clinton will face off against Beekmantown. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Northeastern Clinton will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Beekmantown, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Robert McIntyre made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Jordan Wells was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Northeastern Clinton's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Garceau, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Northeastern Clinton's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Beekmantown, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
