Basketball Game Preview: La Veta Redhawks vs. Centennial Rams

The La Veta Redhawks and the Centennial Rams will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

La Veta saw some tournament action on Saturday. They lost to Nucla on the road by a 39-20 margin. The Redhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Veta's defeat came about despite a quality game from Marianna De La Cruz, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Goemmer, who posted a point in addition to 11 boards and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Centennial came up short against Trinidad on Friday, falling 51-31. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Miners: they've now lost three in a row.

La Veta's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

Everything came up roses for La Veta against Centennial in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 59-25 victory. In that game, La Veta amassed a halftime lead of 32-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
