It was a good run, but Cesar Chavez unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. The contest between them and the Highland Hawks didn't end well, with the Cesar Chavez Champions falling 57-43. The Champions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cesar Chavez lost, don't look at Alex Ballard. Despite the final result, she went 10 of 24 en route to 24 points and three steals. Ballard is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Ballard, who posted five points and five steals.

Leading Highland to victory were Peyton Jacobsen and Emilee Searle. Jacobsen dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards, while Searle went 6 of 9 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, Jacobsen is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Addi Riggs, who put up five points and eight assists.

Cesar Chavez's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Highland, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6.

Cesar Chavez and Maryvale will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Cesar Chavez is facing Maryvale at the right time seeing as Maryvale is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Highland, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Williams Field at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williams Field is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.
