Soccer Game Preview: Archbishop Rummel vs. Riverdale

The Archbishop Rummel Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Riverdale Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Archbishop Rummel will be strutting in after a victory while Riverdale will be coming in after a defeat.

Archbishop Rummel will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy on Wednesday. Archbishop Rummel never let Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy onto the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Riverdale was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They lost 4-0 to Willow. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana soccer rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Lions are ranked seventh).

Archbishop Rummel is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7-4 record this season. As for Riverdale, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
