Recap: Edgewater Eagles vs. Winter Haven Blue Devils

On Monday, the Edgewater Eagles faced the Winter Haven Blue Devils in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Edgewater's rough 93-69 loss to Winter Haven might stick with them for a while. Edgewater has struggled against Winter Haven recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Edgewater saw an underclassman step up: Donovan Williams Jr. scored 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ethan Simon, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Isaac Celiscar was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 39 points and 12 rebounds for Winter Haven. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Celiscar has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Phillips jr, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.

Edgewater has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-6 record this season. As for Winter Haven, the victory was the 20th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewater will take on Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Olympia is ranked 14th, while Edgewater is ranked 16th).
