Softball Recap: Harding Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Harding had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Humboldt Hawks 21-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 22-7 two weeks ago.

The team relied heavily on Marcela Deloye-Romero, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Cadence Lee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Harding kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Harding pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.6 runs over those games. As for Humboldt, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Harding will take on Washburn at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Humboldt, they will be playing at home against Washington Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
