Softball Recap: St. Marys Flying Dutch vs. Cranberry Area Berries
While St. Marys's victory against Cranberry Area wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Flying Dutch narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Berries 6-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.
Avery Eckels spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Hanslovan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsie Fledderman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
