Baseball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

Pioneer had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-6 to make it four. They fell 5-1 to the Iroquois Redhawks. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Panthers, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in May of 2024.

As for Iroquois, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1. They haven't had any issues with Pioneer recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

For Iroquois' part, they let Slade McTigue and Alexander Yandricha run wild. McTigue went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Yandricha went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Yandricha is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Fragale, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

While Pioneer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
