North is 0-9 against Ellet since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vikings will square off against the Orangement at 5:00 p.m. North has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North lost 23-11 to Garfield on Monday.
Paw Soe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophya Lepcha, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Ellet got the win against Bedford on Monday by a conclusive 16-1. The Orangement might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 12 runs or more this season.
Addy Lipply and Ava Conelly made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Lipply pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Conelly pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lipply has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lipply went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Conelly earned one RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave Conelly a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keyli Myers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Mar'Rihanna Stewart was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one double.
Ellet kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Ellet has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for North, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. North has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Ellet struggles in that department as they've averaged .534. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North suffered a grim 27-0 defeat to Ellet in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
