Preview: Carroll Cougars vs. Northwestern Tigers
After two games on the road, Carroll is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Northwestern Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Carroll has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 313 points over their last five games.
Carroll has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season. They really took it to Rossville for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-24 victory on the road. With Carroll ahead 41-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Carroll's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alli Harness, who scored 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. The contest was Harness' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Wagner, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northwestern's four-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Eastern 61-27 at home. The victory was just what Northwestern needed coming off of a 68-24 loss in their prior match.
Carroll's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Northwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Carroll came out on top in a nail-biter against Northwestern in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, sneaking past 55-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Northwestern's Mckenna Layden, who scored 40 points along with eight rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Carroll to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
