Softball Recap: Huntington Huntsmen vs. Piketon Redstreaks

Huntington had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They lost 24-7 to the Piketon Redstreaks. The Huntsmen were not able to make up for their loss to the Redstreaks from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Allie Baker and Savannah Bushatz did some serious damage despite the final result: Baker went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Bushatz went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As for Piketon, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Considering they have won five games by more than 12 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Piketon's side, Briar Penwell was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Penwell has posted since back in March. Reese Shanks was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Huntington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-3 defeat against Northwest on the 17th. As for Piketon, they have also already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against Eastern on the 17th.
