Softball Recap: Hampton Comes Up Short

In Monday's Canine Competition, Hampton had to take the L. They lost 17-5 to the North Greene Huskies on Monday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Hannah Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kiera McKinney, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hampton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for North Greene, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will welcome University School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.86 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North Greene, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Unaka at 5:00 p.m. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 10.8 runs per game this season.
