Basketball Game Preview: Douglas County West Falcon vs. Fillmore Central Panthers

The Douglas County West Falcon will face off against the Fillmore Central Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Douglas County West took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 64-39 margin over Louisville. Given the Falcon's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Lions are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Zane Wohlers, who posted 15 points. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Asher, who earned 12 points.

Meanwhile, Fillmore Central waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Scouts 62-37.

Fillmore Central's win came from a few key players Douglas County West will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jarin Tweedy, who went 7 for 16 en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Daniel Stoner was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Fillmore Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as David City only racked up 11 assists.

Douglas County West's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Fillmore Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
