Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Lydia Robertson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave her a new career-high. Jenna Funk was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 46-42 to Elkhorn Valley. She almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Rasmussen's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlie Kvols, who posted eight points.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Laurel-Concord-Coleridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 boards.
