Softball Game Preview: Cathedral City Lions vs. Desert Mirage RAMS

Cathedral City has gone 8-2 against Desert Mirage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lions will head out to challenge the RAMS at 3:30 p.m. Cathedral City will be strutting in after a win while Desert Mirage will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Cathedral City turned things around against Desert Hot Springs on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Golden Eagles.

Sayuri Toledo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Toledo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayle Monterroso, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Amya Guzman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Desert Mirage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banning.

Cathedral City's record now sits at 4-11. As for Desert Mirage, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Cathedral City's way against Desert Mirage in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Cathedral City made off with a 24-18 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the RAMS have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
