Shelby is 7-0 against Cherryville since December of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Shelby Golden Lions will welcome the Cherryville Ironmen at 7:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Shelby's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Cherryville has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Shelby is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Burns on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Shelby lost 90-64 to Burns. The Golden Lions were down 64-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Cherryville came up short against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy on Friday, falling 78-53. While losing is never fun, the Ironmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 659th, while the Gryphons are ranked 269th).

Cherryville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Shelby, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-7.

Everything went Shelby's way against Cherryville in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Shelby made off with a 70-50 win. Will Shelby repeat their success, or does Cherryville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
