Basketball Recap: Hayden Comes Up Short

Hayden suffered their biggest loss since February 23, 2024 on Saturday. They were beaten by the Plateau Valley Cowboys 61-25. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now lost six in a row.

Hayden's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taryn Schlim, who posted two points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Hayden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Plateau Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emaline Ealey, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Ealey has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Bevan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Hayden's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Plateau Valley, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hayden didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-33 win against North Park on the 17th. Plateau Valley has also already played their next game, a 48-19 victory against Caprock Academy on the 14th.
