Baseball Recap: Metea Valley Takes a Loss

Metea Valley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Naperville North Huskies, falling 10-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 on Monday.

Metea Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Armaan Shah, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Naperville North, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games.

On Naperville North's side, the team relied heavily on Zach Bava, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Bava has become a key player for the Huskies: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Matt Cantrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

While Metea Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
