Softball Game Preview: Pendleton Buckaroos vs. Marist Spartans

The Pendleton Buckaroos will square off against the Marist Spartans on Friday. Pendleton will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Pendleton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Sweet Home as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Buckaroos, who have now won 14 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cascade typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Marist proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cougars 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 3rd.

Marist let Finley Schweigert and Sophia Lydon run wild. Schweigert went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lydon went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Lera Basom was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Marist has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.3 runs. As for Pendleton, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Pendleton took their win against Marist in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 20-10 score. Will the Buckaroos repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
