Basketball Recap: Quez Outten's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Evangelical Christian over Imagine School at North Port

After flying high against The Village School of Naples on Friday, Evangelical Christian came back down to earth. The Evangelical Christian Sentinels lost 84-64 to the Imagine School at North Port Sharks on Saturday. The Sentinels were not able to make up for their loss to the Sharks from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Evangelical Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quez Outten, who went 10 for 20 on his way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was David Morris, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Evangelical Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Imagine School at North Port only pulled down five offensive boards.

Imagine School at North Port's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Rassbach, who went 7 of 10 en route to 19 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rassbach a new career-high in steals. Zahmir Jackson was another key player, going 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points and five boards.

The loss snapped Evangelical Christian's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record. As for Imagine School at North Port, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangelical Christian will take on Southwest Florida Christian in a tournament on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian is facing Southwest Florida Christian at the right time seeing as Southwest Florida Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Imagine School at North Port, they will head out on the road to face off against Sarasota Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Imagine School at North Port is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
