Softball Recap: Sullivan Redskins vs. Blue Ridge Knights
Sullivan proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 20) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Blue Ridge Knights. The win was nothing new for Sullivan as they're now sitting on three straight.
Aeralyn Thrasher made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Thrasher has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Thrasher was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Thrasher wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was J?Nai Webb, who went 4-for-4 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.
On Blue Ridge's side, Ellie Schlieper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
