The Wisconsin high school football season wrapped up at Camp Randall Stadium on Friday.
Division 1Arrowhead (Hartland) topped defending champion
Bay Port (Green Bay)18-15 in the D1 state title game.
Trailing 15-12 with 46 seconds remaining,
Ryan Heiman returned a kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown, giving Arrowhead an 18-15 lead, and they held on to win by that score.
The Warhawks (13-1) claim their seventh WIAA state championship in program history. Junior
Jebari Craig Jr. finished with 13 carries for 64 yards to lead Arrowhead's rushing attack, and senior
Harper Hughes paced the receivers with four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.
Senior quarterback
Matt Stevens went 10 of 16 passing for 133 yards and rushed the ball 25 times for 142 yards and a touchdown for Bay Port (11-3)
Division 2West De Pere (De Pere) (14-0) defeated last year's D3 state champion
Notre Dame Academy (Green Bay) in the D2 state title game, 28-14.
The Phantoms win their third state title in team history. Senior quarterback
Patrick Greisen set the Division 2 WIAA championship game record with 304 yards passing. Greisen, a University of South Dakota commit, completed 16 of 26 attempts with two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver
Judeah Kniskern set the Division 2 championship game record with 164 yards on seven catches. Another key contributor to the Phantoms was senior running back
Ryan Lutz, who tallied 76 yards on 18 carries and reached the endzone twice.
Greisen is the only player in Wisconsin state history with back-to-back seasons of 3,500 yards and 40 touchdowns. He's also the only player in state history with 100 career touchdown passes. Patrick finishes his career with 7,990 yards passing in his two years as the starter.
Junior
Kingston Allen, who recently added a scholarship offer from Wisconsin, finished with 43 carries for 242 yards and two touchdowns for Notre Dame (13-1). Allen set the single-season record for rushing yards in a season, finishing with 3,436 yards and a state record 57 rushing touchdowns.
Division 3
Grafton (14-0) edged
Reedsburg (10-4) in the D3 state title game, capturing its third gold ball in program history.
Senior
Graysen Bollech made a 35-yard field goal with six seconds remaining to lift the Black Hawks to the victory. Their offense was led by junior
Jack Nelson, who finished with 30 carries for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback
Nicholas Schiller completed 17 of 33 for 206 yards, with senior
Tyler Deer catching seven passes for 129 yards.
Senior two-way standout
Will Mikonowicz was a workhorse for Reedsburg, finishing with 38 carries for 270 yards and two touchdowns. He also had an interception on defense. Mikonwoicz, who recently picked up a preferred walk-on offer from Wisconsin, gave the Beavers a 15-14 lead after a 1-yard touchdown run, followed by running in the two-point conversion with 1:39 left in the game.
Division 4
Winneconne (14-0) captured its second WIAA state title in team history, beating
Little Chute (12-2) in the D4 state championship game 28-22.
Senior quarterback
Brody Schaffer threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns, going 11 for 16, and ran the ball 22 times for 137 yards and a score. The University of Iowa commit also picked off a pass in the win. Senior
Karter Hawtorne had five catches for 55 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolves.
Junior running back
Reece Joten led Little Chute with 21 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Division 5Mayville (14-0) won its second state title in program history, defeating
Northwestern (Maple) in the D5 state championship game, 42-32.
The Cardinals were led by senior
Landen Baker and
Joe Promersberger, who each went over 100 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns each. Baker finished with 29 carries for 120 yards, and Promersberger rushed for 134 yards on seven carries.
Junior
Tysen Teal scored four touchdowns for Northwestern (13-1). He ran the ball nine times for 62 yards and three touchdowns, and caught five passes for 109 yards and a score.
Division 6Darlington (14-0) took home its fifth gold ball in team history, cruising to a 42-18 win over
Edgar (13-1) in the D6 state championship game.
The Redbirds squad was headlined by Junior quarterback
Zeke Zuberbuhler, who ran the ball 12 times for 133 yards and three touchdowns, and went 4-for-7 passing for 64 yards and a score. Fellow junior
Calum Crist added 107 yards rushing on 16 carries.
Senior
Maverick Butt led Edgar with 21 carries for 160 yards and two touchdowns.
Division 7
St. Joseph (Kenosha) (14-0) captured its WIAA first state title in program history, defeating
Cochrane-Fountain City (Fountain City) (13-1) in the D7 championship game, 35-19.
Senior quarterback
Zach Rizzo completed 15 of 18 passes for 226 yards and three touchdowns—the 226 yards passing set the D7 championship record while the three touchdowns tied the D7 mark. Senior
Dominic Rinaldi caught 10 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns, setting the new record for catches and receiving yards in a D7 state final. Another key contributor for the Lancers was junior
Christopher Kenesiee, who finished with 19 carries for 124 yards and a score.
