Soccer Game Preview: Lindhurst vs. Mesa Verde

The Lindhurst Blazers will challenge the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Lindhurst is headed into the contest having not lost since November 22 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Highlands finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday. The Blazers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mesa Verde). Their defense stepped up to hand Golden Sierra an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. It was an even better day for Alejandro Avila as he scored four goals for his team.

Mesa Verde used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Golden Sierra. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Isaac Mendoza, Alejandro Monroy, and Eddie Montepeque. The new lineup might be seeing more playing time going forward considering the group combined for a total of five goals.

Mesa Verde's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those three matchups. Lindhurst's draw gives them a new season record of 6-1-5.
