Football Recap: Hunter Schmidt's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Classical Academy over Escondido + How To Watch

Classical Academy lost against Escondido back in November of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Caimans took a hard 40-21 fall against the Cougars.

Classical Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hunter Schmidt, who rushed for 101 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Jj Bejar had an outrageously good game for Escondido as he rushed for 171 yards and one TD while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Those 171 rushing yards gave Bejar a new career-high.

Classical Academy dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Escondido, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Classical Academy will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Escondido, they will venture away from home to face off against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
