Basketball Recap: Seminole Ridge Takes a Loss

Seminole Ridge played a tough contest on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Suncoast Chargers and fell 73-15. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 711th, while the Chargers are ranked 115th).

Seminole Ridge got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Alejandro Alava and Jonah Pio, who each put up five points. Garrett Rimes held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Leading Suncoast to victory were Jamarey Harris and Walter Brinkley. Harris went 12 of 16 on his way to 25 points and seven steals, while Brinkley made all 7 shots he took to post 20 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Harris a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Castor, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Seminole Ridge and nudges their season record down to 2-12. As for Suncoast, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Seminole Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 41-32 defeat against Forest Hill on the 10th. As for Suncoast, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-49 loss against Dwyer on the 10th.
