Basketball Recap: Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors vs. St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers

There's no place like home for the Andrew Jackson Academy Warriors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They managed a 60-56 victory over St. John's Christian Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Andrew Jackson Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gage Dicks, who scored 26 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, St. John's Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Thomas Hester scored 24 points. That was a full 42.9% of St. John's Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Brock Ray, who scored eight points.

The victory got Andrew Jackson Academy back to even at 11-11. As for St. John's Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Andrew Jackson Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season. As for St. John's Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Raiders at 8:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Dorchester Academy is ranked 216th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 209th).
