Baseball Recap: Berkeley Springs Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oak Glen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berkeley Springs). They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Oak Glen Golden Bears on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Golden Bears on Saturday, they had to take a 11-4 loss.

Kyle Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kyle Rankin and Shawn McCumbee did most of the damage at the plate: Rankin scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while McCumbee scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave McCumbee a new career-high. Jaxon McClintock was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Berkeley Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Berkeley Springs' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-14. As for Oak Glen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkeley Springs will venture away from home to take on Spring Mills at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Glen, they will take on Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
