Saugus has gone 9-1 against Canyon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Saugus Centurions will look to defend their home field against the Canyon Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. Saugus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Saugus is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Oaks Christian just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions.

Saugus saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abraham Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. James Frias also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Canyon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Van Nuys 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted since April 24, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Matthew Jimenez, who scored a run while going 4-for-6. Another player making a difference was Levi Shickle, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Saugus' loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Canyon, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Saugus came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Saugus repeat their success, or does Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
