Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Piasa Birds vs. Bunker Hill Minutemen + How To Watch

Southwestern has gone a perfect 7-0 against Bunker Hill recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Piasa Birds will welcome the Minutemen at 6:00 p.m. Southwestern will be strutting in after a win while Bunker Hill will be coming in after a loss.

Southwestern proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 22) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly 45-43. While the Piasa Birds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Vivian Zurheide produced another solid effort dropping a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.6 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Briann Anderson, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bunker Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Nokomis and fell 52-21. The game marked the Minutemen's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Southwestern, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Southwestern beat Bunker Hill 36-24 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Will the Piasa Birds repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
