While Hot Springs's victory against Lordsburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hot Springs Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lordsburg Mavericks on Monday, sneaking past 13-11. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Gabrial Varela and James Oros Fuentes did most of the damage at the plate: Varela scored four runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Fuentes scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Varela also got two hits, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Montoya, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Hot Springs now has a winning record of 2-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Tigers coming up. Hot Springs is facing Capitan at the right time seeing as Capitan is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lordsburg, they will take on Navajo Pine at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Lordsburg has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
