Basketball Recap: Elmira Piles Up the Points Against Ithaca

Elmira won the last time they faced Ithaca and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Elmira Express breezed by the Ithaca Little Red to the tune of 56-29. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-8.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elmira to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Matias, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Matias is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Addison Taft, who posted 16 points and six steals.

Elmira pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ithaca, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmira will challenge Binghamton at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Ithaca, they will take on Auburn at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
