Baseball Game Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Godwin Eagles

Hermitage is 0-10 against Godwin since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will host the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Hermitage has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hermitage came up short against Freeman on Tuesday, falling 15-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hermitage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Hernandez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Hernandez has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Godwin's offense. They fell just short of Glen Allen by a score of 1-0 on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Hermitage's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Godwin, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hermitage has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Godwin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Hermitage might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Godwin when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
