Softball Game Preview: Waxahachie Indians vs. Mesquite Skeeters

The Waxahachie Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Mesquite Skeeters at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Waxahachie will be strutting in after a victory while Mesquite will be coming in after a loss.

Waxahachie's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They didn't even let Lancaster on the board, marking the Indians' second-straight 18-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mesquite fell victim to Duncanville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers and Pantherettes, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Skeeters' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Waxahachie's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Mesquite, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-13-1.

Waxahachie took their win against Mesquite in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
