The Westside Rams will take on the Daniel Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Westside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Daniel's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Westside heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Fountain Inn by a score of 7-6. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Rams, who fell 13-11 when the teams last met back in March.
Madison Gray was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Starlyn Clardy, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Daniel made sure to put some runs up on the board against Travelers Rest on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Devildogs with a sharp 10-3 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Addy Fraser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Maria Bowers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Ayers, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Daniel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
The loss snapped Westside's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-7 record. As for Daniel, their win bumped their record up to 8-20.
Westside got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February against Daniel by a conclusive 23-6 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
