The Carmel Corsairs will face off against the Buffalo Grove Bison at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Carmel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Carmel took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Benet Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Corsairs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Redwings on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Corsairs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Kaitlyn Konen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Brown, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Ali Rice was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Grenadiers by a score of 9-5.
Buffalo Grove also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Sammie Kosnoff gave up four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Paige Veller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Emaline Sara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
Buffalo Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Carmel's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Buffalo Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Carmel hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Buffalo Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
