Basketball Recap: Shepard Comes Up Short

If Shepard was feeling good fresh off their 69-32 takedown of College Prep of America last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shepard Astros were beaten by the Lockport Porters 85-42 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Astros can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while the Porters are ranked 123rd).

Shepard's defeat dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Lockport, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-9.

Coming up, Shepard will take on Kennedy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kennedy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. As for Lockport, they will welcome Sandburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lockport's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.
