Basketball Recap: Dallas Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Flint Academy last Friday, Dallas Academy came back down to earth. The Dallas Academy Bulldogs took a hard 64-47 fall against the Faustina Academy Falcons on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Dallas Academy lost, don't look at Josh Maki. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points in addition to six blocks and five rebounds. Maki is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in the last four games he's played. William Russell was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Dallas Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Faustina Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but CJ Agu led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joseph Cook, who earned 14 points and seven boards.

Dallas Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Faustina Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Dallas Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Faustina Academy, they will challenge Immanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Faustina Academy is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Immanuel Christian a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
