Recap: Perry Panthers vs. Marietta Tigers
The Perry Panthers were the 61-47 winner over the Marietta Tigers when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Perry took a 55-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marietta on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Perry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while Marietta is ranked 142nd).
Perry's loss came despite strong showings from Luke Wolf and Darnell Mcleod. Wolf scored 19 points along with five rebounds, while Mcleod scored 13 points along with three steals. The contest was Wolf's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyson Walker, who scored eight points.
Perry are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4. As for Marietta, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry will take on McKinley at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marietta, they will head out on the road to face off against Federal Hocking at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Federal Hocking knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Marietta likes a good challenge.
