Softball Recap: Aberdeen Central Takes a Loss

Aberdeen Central had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it seven. They fell 7-3 to the Spearfish Spartans. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Spearfish's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Spearfish's part, they got a great performance from Taylor Tennant as she tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Tennant a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Caitlin Lyon was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Myah Heiting was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Aberdeen Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-3 loss against Pierre T.F. Riggs on the 29th. Spearfish has also already played their next contest (against Sturgis Brown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
